Who is Calgary Women in Energy?

More than a networking group, Calgary Women in Energy (CWIE) is a dynamic collection of professional women with integrity, shared aspirations and a desire to make a positive impact on both our industry and our community through charitable work, mentorship, and education.

About Us

CWIE was established in January 2003 with a modest founding membership of six ladies gathering to discuss oilfield operations and how they could, collectively, exchange information and meet the objective of adding value to this exciting industry. This exchange group, meeting on a weekly basis, grew quickly and transitioned into a cohesive group of friends and colleagues with common interest running beyond operations.

Now with over 40 members, CWIE has expanded its horizons and has opened its doors to all women in the oil and gas sector and has prudently identified career development as a critical success factor to meet its stated objective of adding value to the industry. The group now meets twice monthly in the heart of downtown Calgary, where we discuss current events within our industry, social and charitable events in and around our community, as well as other pertinent matters members wish to share and discuss. Our meetings are kept stimulated and productive by allowing judgment-free discussion and debate – a place where we can all feel completely comfortable being ourselves. It is a lively exchange of relative information, industry news and ideas to enhance our contribution to our industry and overall networking which is really why CWIE has been so successful.

Additional initiatives that CWIE undertakes include an annual golf tournament, ongoing professional development and personal growth seminars, and a variety of planned sporting and social events, among other things.

As we grow, we endeavor to maintain and project a positive and desirable image to our colleagues both within our industry and to our community. If you, believe in our objectives and believe you can contribute and benefit from joining this vibrant group, or require more information, please contact Jackie Tomalty, CWIE President at 403.899.2292 or by email to: jackie.tomalty@pesl.com
